Cannabis Packaging FAQ

Do you offer eco-friendly options?

Independent is Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Certified by Preferred by NatureTM. In addition we use vegetable-based inks and have the ability to buy recyclable paperboard and biodegradable, compostable & recyclable acetate for window patching.

Read our full Environmental Stewardship Policy.

Are you Fair Trade certified?

Printing companies are not eligible for Fair Trade certification at this time. However, if you are Fair Trade certified and a logo is a design element in your artwork, that’s completely acceptable. We can print it!

Originally, the Fair Trade certification model was designed for commodity, agricultural products. Most recently Fair Trade standards have been expanded to not only protect farmers, but also workers who hand-stitch sports balls and sew apparel. Hopefully one day soon more products and industries will have the opportunity to become Fair Trade certified.

Are you a G7 Certified Printing Company?

Yes, Independent has achieved the level of G7 Master Qualification by demonstrating best practices to effectively operate the G7 methodology in print. This means our color matching skills and processes are globally recognized as the best in the industry.

What is your minimum order quantity?

We can produce as few as 100 but true minimums depend on the size of your packaging, and the equipment we will be using to produce the job. Please contact us for specifics.

What are your lead times?

Typically, on lower quantities of less than 10,000, our lead time is approximately 10 working days after proof approval. Things like style of packaging and type of printing will effect lead times. We’ll do everything possible to meet or exceed your expectations.

Can I do custom printing?

Everything we do is custom so your options for printing are endless! We excel at four color process (CMYK) as well as Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors.

Do you offer kitting services?

We offer full kitting services and smoothly partner with other vendors such as fillers and processors along the supply chain.

How much will packaging cost?

Because almost everything we do is custom, we do not have set pricing. As with most consumer products, packaging can sometimes be a more effective  selling point than the product inside. Simply put: packaging sells! And it appears consumers demand it and are willing to pay for alluring packaging.

Once you provide product specs like packaging type, printing, finishes, quantity, and number of versions, we will quickly generate a quote. We use a consultative selling model: always advising ways to stay within budget and still keep the “wow” factor in your packaging!

What are your shipping costs?

Shipping is determined by size and weight of the shipment. We have partnerships with all major shipping and trucking companies who provide us discounts because of our volume.

Can I use my own UPS/FedEx shipping number?

Yes, we are happy to ship under your shipping account number.

Do you offer design services?

We have structural designers on staff and often do all of the structural design for customers. We have the ability to make structural prototypes as well as fully printed mock ups.

Once the structural design has been approved, we also offer graphic design services.

What’s the process, start to finish?

Our structural designers will create a prototype for your approval. After approval, a dieline will be created and provided for you to add the artwork. Printed samples are created once artwork is approved. We assign a service/project manager to each order who will stay with you and the project until it delivers to a happy customer!
